Notable
Smell the Mitten to open, very good, into an awesome Water.
No stopping, flowing into Professor Wormbog, and then morphing into Sweetness, so good!
The jam, labeled “Jimmy Stewart” in the track list moves slowly into Walk the Proud Land, the Bob Marley classic. It’s only been played 23 times.
Then it’s a tight quick move back into Professor Wormbog! What a sandwich.
A very funny organ jazz short Front Porch tease segment including lyrics, for just a minute, before launching into Der Bluten Kat.
Der Blutan Kat through the first jam section, and then it pops right into Utopian Fir. Utopian doesn’t have the improv or center jam section at all. Then it goes right into Walletsworth before finishing. Then Walletsworth right in the middle after the vocal section goes into a jazzy scat section that sounds like Utopian Fir, and it is – they go right back into Utopian Fir. And now I’m starting to get it, they go right back in to Walletsworth to finish the first rock section and continue. As Walletsworth finishes the vocal part, they go right into the reggae section of Utopian Fir. And they drift seamlessly back into Der Bluten Kat, and then evolves into a very festive Carol of the Bells interlude with Joel playing synthesizer sounding much like Christmas bells.
After Carol of the Bells, they evolve the jam into The Other Side of Things teases. Then they stop suddenly and that goes into a Batman theme jam, and they transition into Billie Jean by Michael Jackson.
Mikey Miro on the drums with the rhythm for Out of Order to start the second set.
Some very cool Out of Order early synthesizer work from Joel.
Then for the last note, they go into Visions of Parin in an excellent quick and tight movement.
Visions has a funny jam that goes into the debut of Empire State, labeled “New Song (Really? Really?)” It has some improv lyrics by Brendan about Joel saying “Visions of Parin I’m losing my hair and….”
They bring it right into JaJunk.
For the first time ever they go into Mulche’s Odyssey by itself, in the track list it’s just part of JaJunk. They don’t play the song, but it’s the first time that I’ve heard it separated from Miss Tinkles Overture.
After a long and exploratory JaJunk, they arrange for the jam to go into Last Man Swerving. They finally end a song, Last Man Swerving stops, and there’s a little banter with Brendan wishing everybody a happy Friday, and then they go into Prowler. They jam the end of Prowler right into 13 days, interestingly.
Then 13 Days: A sudden ending of 13 days goes right into that opening salvo of Get in the Van.
And for the encore, they pull out the new song In the Kitchen, it’s feeling a little more developed, but still doesn’t have the third C-section, and then they play Nothing but a G Thang by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.
What a great show!
