An exceptional Example 1, with the jam bringing on guest flautist John Reuter. The flute playing is excellent, Jake comes in to supplement, and the call-and-response between the guitar and flute is awesome.

Notable:
A nice improv jam to start and a classic Divisions.
Dump City has some cool experimentation with a different beginning segment.
Another perfect White Man’s Moccasins.
Wappy Sprayberry is getting a little more refined and has a nice jam, that builds up to a transition into Hurt Bird Bath.
Get in the Van is tight, and goes into The Police’s Walking on the Moon, a great performance to end the set. Walking on the Moon has been played 64 times, quite a lot in 2001-2002.
This Example 1 to start set two is an exceptional version, especially as the ending jam welcomes a flautist (John Reuter) to the stage. The flute solos are awesome, and then to listen to Jake on guitar with complementary notes and call-and-response with the flute is a joy.
This 9th performance of Miss Tinkles Overture is excellent, and starts off coming out of the Ex1 jam with fits and starts, but busts into a powerful version. As usual for these two around this time, Tinkles jam at the end transforms into Mulche’s Odyssey.
Tinkles jam at the end teases Crosseyed and Painless (Talking Heads) on its way to Mulche’s.
The Triple Wide has a great exploratory jam afterwards, signaling that this song might be able to open up into full band improvisation in the future.
The Crooked One is a classic version highlighting Jake’s prowess in the guitar solo section near the end.
Pink Floyd’s In the Flesh? > Another Brick in the Wall [part II] is very good, a true to form version with excellent playing. It’s not that common with 67 performances. Joel introduces it as “one of the older tunes we’ve written.” Joel again has awesome vocals to begin here.
Most recently, I was at Red Butte Garden in Salt Lake City on 9-8-22, where they played this combo as a shout-out to Roger Waters who was playing SLC on the same night.
JaJunk > bass solo. Wow. Cool mellow JaJunk jam as it drifts into a bass solo by Ryan.
A great 2×2 with the classic Brendan tease, “Feels So Good” by Chuck Mangione.
Joel says, “This next one’s by a great musician…from Texas. A slow and purposeful Lenny (Stevie Ray Vaughan) shows patience and virtuosity by Jake and Joel.
The classic UM cover All Night Long by Lionel Ritchie. Jake on percussion. They played this a lot from 1999 to 2001, but not so much since. It’s been played a total of 72 times, the last one in 2016.
