The Blue Note Columbia MO: November 21, 2002

Notable:

Starting with 6:30 jam labeled “Jimmy Stewart.” It doesn’t miss a beat and goes right into Sociable Jimmy at full volume.

Water is super-good. The sound in this recording is excellent too.

Really cool jam in the first half of JaJunk. The next written section gives way to a jam that turns into Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean.

As Billie Jean finishes, JaJunk starts to come in behind it and they transition right back.

They go right into a classic Umphrey’s tune, Example 1, with high energy.

Another great transition into Pay the Snucka.

Opening the second set Joel plays Linus & Lucy, the Charlie Brown theme on the synthesizer, and they go into the developing pair, Miss Tinkles Overture > Mulche’s Odyssey.

Interestingly, after staying with the “bacon” lyric in Mulche’s for the last x versions, Jake changes it into “sausage” the way he did the first three performances.

2×2 comes out swinging.

All Things Ninja with the weird synth sounds from Joel. Wow, then he’s really using that electronic sounds as they jam after the first segments. A unique sound for All Things Ninja.

According to the show notes, Jake is playing the toy stylophone that avfan gave him recently on this version of All Things Ninja.

The encore, Ringo > Kimble is awesome. Listen to it. Enough said.
